Matt Baker is one of the most decorated Black Belts directly from Jean Jacques Machado of the World renown "Machado Brothers", [Cousins of the Gracies]. Other Black belts under Jean Jacques Machado include Eddie Bravo, and Rico Rodriguez. Matt was awarded his Black Belt directly from Jean Jacques Machado in 2007, and later promoted to Black Belt with first degree in 2010.

Matt has been actively training, teaching and competing in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu for 17 years.

Matt has a practical approach to Jiu Jitsu that is specifically designed to win competitions as well as survive when under attack by stronger opponents for both gi and no-gi competition. Matt is also a guest instructor on Jean Jacques Machado's online training program that reaches students world wide.

In addition to extensive experience as a coach and competitor Matt is also a referee for various tournament organizations such as Grappling X, Grapplers Quest, and the North American Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Federation [NABJJF].
